Batavia Downs has canceled live racing for Saturday night.
The track took the action “out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all our participating horsemen and women and their horses, our loyal trackside customers and the track’s employees who make the live card happen.”
Live racing is scheduled to resume at Batavia Downs at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Parts of Western New York have received several feet of lake effect snow in the past two days, with locations near Buffalo topping five and even six feet of snow, according to reports from the National Weather Service.
Travel has been difficult in some locations and weather advisories remain in effect.
