BATAVIA, IL — A 66-year-old Batavia man is facing 18 counts of felony charges after he was found to have reproduced and been in possession of child pornography, officials said.
David Winecke, of the 1200 block of Hazelwood Court, was charged with three counts of reproducing child pornography and 15 counts of possession of child pornography. All charges show the victim was younger than 13 years old.
Prior to Dec. 20, the man reproduced and was in possession of multiple videos and images of child pornography prior Dec. 20, officials at the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Winecke’s bail, which he posted, was set for $100,000, with 10 percent to apply. Once he did, officials said he is not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
The Batavia man is also required to surrender his passport, all firearms, ammunition and Firearm Owners Identification card. He is prohibited from using Internet chat rooms and file-sharing applications, according to officials.

Winecke’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 5.
“People who view child pornography are not committing a victimless crime,” State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser said in a statement. “They are encouraging child abuse, as well as the continued victimization of the children depicted in the images and videos. We will devote the necessary resources to appropriately prosecute these criminals.”
Sheriff Ron Hain said those who exploit children should “expect to live in my jail.”
“The investigation of these deplorable crimes has been a top priority for my Office over the last four years,” he said. “We are proud to partner with Kane County State’s Attorney Mosser’s team to bring these offenders to swift justice.”
